Headshot Photography
For actors, professionals, CVs and social media accounts, a good headshot photo is more important than ever. It is often the first impression you give to a recruiter, a casting agent, a potential client or business partner. Therefore, it can dramatically improve (or damage!) your chances of success. Although you could get decent results with your own phone, the help of a professional headshot photographer can really make a difference in your career.
Headshot for actors
A good headshot for actors can be done on location, in a “lifestyle” setting with a busy background – which is a very popular option these days – or with a black or white backdrop, for a more classic result. This can happen in my studio or on location, with my pop-up mobile studio equipment that I can take anywhere. I normally recommend to allow at least a full hour, so we can try at least three different outfits. For example, these could be a plain t-shirt, a casual outfit and a smart one. We may also want to play with different hairstyles and makeup, or even with props if needed.
The same principles apply to models headshot, modelling photo shoots and fashion sessions. However, I would recommend to allow more time to go through more poses and settings. In this case, the full body might need to be shown – which requires more takes.
Headshot for business
Throughout the years, I had the pleasure to work with many important businesses (such as FMA Partners and many more), professionals and personalities. Including quite a few lords and baronesses, among others.
My clients range from individual professionals to big corporate or government entities. Individuals may need to prop-up their CVs, or a website page, for example. They can take their time to get at ease in front of the camera, and to try different poses and outfits. On the opposite side of the spectrum, businesses sometimes may require pictures of an entire team. In these cases, I can visit the company’s office with my backdrops and lights. I recommend to allow at least 10 mins per person, or 15 for optimal results.
Headshot for LinkedIn or other social media
Social media headshots can often be tricky, because of the platforms specifications. The size and shapes requested are different than what would normally fit on a website or on a CV. Therefore, the shots and the editing may vary depending on the platform (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tinder, etc.). Obviously, several platforms can be covered within the same session, while making sure the photos meet all the requirements.
Conclusions
Having a professional headshot photo taken, nowadays, is hugely important. Wether you are the CEO of an important business or an actor starting your career, or even if you’re just looking for a fresh portrait to show on your social media. As a professional, I understand your needs and can guide you through the process, making sure you’re always natural and relaxed in front of the camera.
